Linda
Mattos, soprano, is a native of Mt. Shasta, CA. She has been a Regular with the
Seattle Opera Chorus since 2001. Ms. Mattos has been the recipient of many
scholarships and awards including Grand Winner of the San Francisco Concerto
Orchestra Competition, semi-finalist at the Francisco Vinas International
Singing Contest, winner of the American Art Song Competition, and twice
Metropolitan Opera Audition Regional Finalist. Ms. Mattos’ operatic repertoire
includes Nedda in I Pagliacci, Micaela in Carmen, Geraldine in the Hand of
Bridge, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Musetta in La Boheme and The Queen of the
Night in the Magic Flute. She has recently been seen as Zerbinetta in Ariadne
auf Naxos with the Seattle Opera Guild Previews and Rosina in the Barber of
Seville with Rogue Opera, Medford, OR. Ms. Mattos was the featured soloist in
the Southern Oregon New Music Chamber Ensemble Series singing Folk Songs by
Luciano Berio, among other contemporary works. Upcoming performances include a
concert and special music at the Crystal Cathedral, Micaela in Carmen with
Obsidian Opera, Bend, OR and a community concert recital in Siskiyou County,
California. Discography includes Mary in the world premiere of the Song of Luke,
soprano soloist in the Gospel Cantata for Easter and her full length sacred CD
entitled, New Song, released in 2003. Ms. Mattos makes her home in Bellevue, WA.
